WHO is ETERNAL LIFE ?

 We know what eternal life is, that it is a special life we attain outside of sin when we accept and receive Jesus Christ as our lord and savior and allow Him to come live in us. We receive this gift of eternal life to live forever in Glory when we depart this earth. But did we know that eternal life is also a Who (person) as much as it is a What (a thing)?

Let me show you what the Bible says that will marvel your thinking and understanding.

1 John 5:20 says, 

“We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him who is true by being in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”

The above verse speaks something amazing to us, that Jesus Christ came to this earth to also give us some level of understanding as much as Jesus came to save us. The understanding Jesus came to give us is a knowledge of who God Almighty is; “so that we may know Him who is true” and for us to also understand that we are in God by being in Jesus Christ. Meaning when Jesus Christ is God; you being in one means you’re in the other hence, they are one and the same.

 

Having understood this let’s answer the question “Who is Eternal Life?” which will be answered by the knowledge that the understanding Jesus gives us brings.

And this knowledge is seen in the very last part of the scripture verse above; “He is the true God and eternal life.”

Now:

He is referring to “Him who is true” and by the above text “He is the true God”.

But there is more, the next statement is our main focus; “…and eternal life.”

Meaning He who is the true God is also eternal life. So God is ETERNAL LIFE; ETERNAL LIFE is God.

And we know from above explanations that Jesus Christ is God hence, Jesus Christ is ETERNAL LIFE; ETERNAL LIFE is Jesus Christ.
